The Vasoactive Intestinal Polypeptide (VIP) test measures the level of VIP in the blood. VIP is a neuropeptide that plays a crucial role in regulating various physiological functions, including vasodilation, gastrointestinal motility, and fluid secretion. Abnormal levels of VIP can be associated with certain medical conditions, particularly VIPoma, a rare type of pancreatic tumor.
