The Sickle Cell Screen (Hemoglobin Solubility) test is a laboratory test that detects the presence of abnormal hemoglobin S, which is associated with sickle cell disease. This test evaluates whether the hemoglobin in a blood sample can dissolve in a specific solution. Individuals with sickle cell trait or sickle cell disease will have reduced solubility of hemoglobin S, which can be detected by this test.
