Pre-Albumin

Pre-albumin, also known as transthyretin, is a protein produced by the liver that transports thyroxine (T4) and retinol-binding protein, which carries vitamin A. It is a sensitive marker for nutritional status and reflects recent dietary intake, making it useful for assessing protein levels in the body. Pre-albumin has a shorter half-life than other proteins, which allows for rapid assessment of changes in protein status.
