Myoglobin

Myoglobin is a protein found in muscle tissue that binds oxygen, facilitating its transport and storage within muscle cells. It is particularly abundant in cardiac and skeletal muscles. Myoglobin is released into the bloodstream when muscle tissue is damaged, making it a useful biomarker for diagnosing conditions related to muscle injury, such as myocardial infarction (heart attack) or rhabdomyolysis.
