Giardia Ag Detect., w/Reflex to O&P

Giardia is a common cause of parasitic gastrointestinal infections, leading to symptoms such as diarrhea, abdominal pain, bloating, and nausea. This test specifically detects antigens (proteins) produced by the Giardia organism, making it a sensitive method for diagnosing giardiasis. The reflex to O&P (Ova and Parasite) indicates that if the Giardia antigen test is positive, the laboratory will automatically perform an O&P test to look for other parasites or ova (eggs) in the stool, providing a comprehensive assessment of potential parasitic infections.
