Estrone (E1)

Estrone (E1) is one of the three main forms of estrogen produced by the body. It is primarily found in postmenopausal women, as it is the least potent of the estrogens compared to estradiol (E2) and estriol (E3). Estrone is produced in various tissues, particularly in fat cells, and serves as the main estrogen in the body after menopause. The Estrone (E1) test measures the level of estrone in the blood and is used to evaluate hormonal imbalances, especially in women going through menopause, as well as conditions related to excess estrogen, such as breast cancer or endometriosis.
