Prolactin

Prolactin is a peptide hormone produced by the anterior pituitary gland, primarily responsible for stimulating breast development and milk production during and after pregnancy. Its secretion is regulated by various factors, including hormonal signals from the hypothalamus. Prolactin also plays roles in regulating the immune system and influencing reproductive functions in both men and women. Elevated prolactin levels can lead to conditions like galactorrhea (unwanted milk production), infertility, and menstrual irregularities.
