BUN

BUN (Blood Urea Nitrogen) measures the amount of nitrogen in the blood that comes from urea, a waste product formed by the liver when protein is broken down. This test helps assess kidney function and can be used to diagnose or monitor conditions such as kidney disease, dehydration, or liver dysfunction. Elevated or decreased BUN levels may indicate problems with how well the kidneys are filtering waste from the blood.
