Methylmalonic Acid

The methylmalonic acid (MMA) test measures levels of MMA in the blood or urine, primarily to assess vitamin B12 status. Elevated MMA levels can indicate a deficiency in vitamin B12, as the body requires B12 to properly process MMA. This test is often used when B12 deficiency is suspected but not confirmed by other tests.
